T he Morse Code was devised by Samuel Morse, an American painter. It is a system of 'dots and dashes' for sending messages. Each letter or numeral is represented by a unique sequence of dots and dashes. The duration of a dash is three times the duration of a dot. Based on this system, Samuel Morse developed the concept of a single - wire telegraph. The Idea of a Morse Code came to Morse when he was on a ship to New York. There, he met Dr.Charles Jackson of Boston, who was well schooled in electromagnetism. Morse became hooked on the concept of the telegraph.
